Don’t let your drama school auditions get you down
Drama School auditions are many and various and your experience can differ a great deal from your peers.
The key thing to remember is to take each one as it comes and once you have finished it forget about it!
There’s no use watching your inbox or the post for your hopeful recall as it wastes time and it only makes you feel more anxious as the days go by.
Another thing not to worry about is the difference between your audition and your friends. Just because they were asked to perform both their speeches and were re-directed and you were given a perfunctory Thank you after your first speech, doesn’t mean that they are not interested in you.
Remember (and this is particularly true of afternoon auditions) there are a great deal of auditionees and as they often run over in the morning, the panel are trying to get through everybody before the end of the day.
Your auditions will vary from the quick in-out of first round at RADA, Rose Bruford, LAMDA and Drama Centre etc to the more workshop experience at places like MTA.
Just think of each audition as a performance – something you should love – you have paid for the opportunity so ENJOY IT!!!
Most importantly… don’t allow your unsuccessful auditions effect your upcoming auditions. You need to get your head right and just keep going! Good Luck!
