The list of monologues below is just the tip of the iceberg. Audition Monologues are there to show you at your very best. Don’t let yourself down, remember these two rules when choosing a speech.
-
Choosing a monologueChoose a monologue which is suited to your age range, acting type, gender and appearance. You’d be suprised how many actors do a speech which is so far out of their casting bracket its ridiculous. Show them how you see yourself and how you think you should be cast.
-
Read the playThe most important rule of all is that you read the play. Don’t just dive into a Monologue Book and choose blindly. Study the play as if you were actually going to play that character in a production. Try out other scenes which include your character. You will more than likely be asked questions about your choices and your opinions by the drama school audition panel, you need to be answer confidently, and to do that you need to read the whole play. So many actors fail because they find a monologue online or in a monologue book and never read the full play and learn who the character is.
The listed plays and monologues are all available at Amazon. You MUST read the full play
