Inigo Montoya gives acting advice
Actor Mandy Patinkin has a career which spans four decades. He was the original Che in the Broadway production of Evita, he played Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, fell in love with Barbra Streisand in Yentl, and recently he played Saul in Homeland. It also turns out he is one of the nicest guys in the industry!
Chaffeur Will Rubio was driving stars around for the Sundance Festival and decided to hook up a little camera at the front of his car and ask the stars if they would take part in mini interviews as he chaffeured them from A to B. No one said ‘yes’ until he had to ferry Patinkin to the airport.
Patinkin happily answered Rubio’s questions and even delivered his famous lines from The Princess Bride for superfan Rubio!
With a hugely successful career in film, tv and theatre Mandy Patinkin is a man who knows a thing or two about how to make it happen.
Rubio asked Patinkin what advice he had from anyone starting out in the industry and here is what he had to say:
Don’t let anybody tell you no. Just do it.
‘My advice is if you love it and you wanna do it and it’s your dream don’t let anybody tell you no. Just do it.
‘If you get knocked down get up again and if you can’t keep getting up when you keep get knocking down don’t be an actor, because that’s the name of the game. You have got to be willing to be disappointed constantly and not let it destroy you.’
If you are not willing to do that, move on. Life is short, it’s not a crime. I have a lot of respect for people who say ‘Thats’s not for me, I don’t wanna get beat up like that.’
